- HOW TO DRAW USING KRITA -
NAVIGATION AND THE BASICS
Krita is a free, open-source raster graphics editor designed primarily for digital art and 2D animation. It can run on Microsoft Windows, Mac, Linux, Chrome, and Android — making it accessible to both professionals and aspiring artists. ₊˚⊹♡
-`Welcome Screen´-When opening the software, you get greeted by a welcome screen. This is a one-stop convenience screen as it is the collection of important shortcuts.
It is divided into 4 sections such as:
The Start section that covers the buttons ‘New File’ for starting a new canvas and the ‘Open File’ for opening an existing one.
The Recent Documents section that covers saved projects from previous sessions.
The Community section that covers a collection of links to get help, app support, source codes, and a link to interact with the user community.
And the News section (disabled by default), provides the latest news, events, and updates that is happening within the community.
Other than the four sections aforementioned, the welcome screen also acts as a drop area for opening any document. With a simple drag and drop on the area below the community panel, a Krita document (or any supported image files) automatically opens with Krita.
-`Interface´-
Krita's interface is very flexible and provides artists the freedom of arranging and customizing the elements in a way that works best for them.
- A – Traditional File or action menu, found in most windowed applications.
- B – Toolbar – where you can choose brushes, set parameters such as opacity and size, along other settings.
- C – Sidebars also known as the Dockable areas which allows users to dock panels at the top and/or bottom.
- D – Status Bar – This space shows the preferred mode for showing selection i.e. marching ants or mask mode, your selected brush preset, Color Space, image size and provides a convenient zoom control.
-`Creating something´-To create and illustrate on Krita is not something to be afraid of!
Below is a video that contains a brief software tour along with a comprehensive tutorial on how to draw an apple using Krita and one of its brush presets.✨👇🏻👀
୨୧ Full Video´-
Here are the steps if you missed it!
Step 1: Click the brush tool, you can pick any type of brush but choose RGBA Brushes. In your first layer, put a dot in the center of the base where you gonna place your apple and draw a circle for the outline.
Step 2: Now click the erase tool and decrease the size. Erase the part for some of the outlines you draw. and then, click the plus sign you can see on the lower part of the right sidebar for adding your second layer. Also, lower the opacity together with the first layer.
Step 3: Back with layer 2, now you have the basic guideline on the back, you may trace it and turn it into the shape of an apple. Lower the opacity for both layer one and layer two then add layer three.
Step 4: Draw again, and make curves to turn it into a nice and curved apple. You can draw also a sun just to indicate where you wanna put the light on.
Step 5: Add the basic outline for the shading of your apple. Lower the opacity again and add your fourth layer
Step 6: On layer 4, begin to finalize the drawing of the apple. This is optional. You may choose other brushes or increase the size of your brush for the shading. Never forget your shadow. It must be spot on where the light of the sun hits the apple.
Step 7: Now we move on to the Coloring. On the Advance color selector, choose the right red shade for the apple and add Layer number 5. Begin to color the whole apple. Same as well with the shadow.
Step 8: Change the brush to a blending brush/applicator to smoothen the color. Change the shade of the red into a much darker shade and color it near the shadow. Never forget to blend.
Step 9: Change the shade of the red into a much lighter shade and color it on the rest of the apple. Change the brush to a blending applicator and blend again.
Step 10: Now with the lightest shade, we're going to place it where the light directs the apple. Erase some of the darker areas around the right side of the apple. Add again the lightest shade and never forget to blend.
Step 11: Add details and erase some excess. We're now going to put a highlight on the top and blend it well.
Step 12: Never forget the trunk of the apple so we will color it as well. And you are finally done!
I hope this broadens your artistic minds!
Remember,
Art is free! Have fun~ ♡
